Psychologists Confirm: It Is Better To Be Single Than In A Toxic Relationship

Many people think that being single brings unhappiness. However, those, who were in a toxic relationship, know that being in a relationship does not mean being happy.

Moreover, being in a toxic relationship can negatively affect your emotional and mental well-being. It means being mentally and physically manipulated and abused by the partner. The consequences of manipulation and abuse can last for years, and victims can experience the symptoms of post-traumatic relationship syndrome. In cases like this, it is better to be single than in a toxic relationship.

Toxic relationships are closely related to heart diseases

According to a recent study, personal relationships are closely related to cardiac diseases. The study involved 1000 participants and it was focused on lifestyle, psychological, biological, and social factors. The participants of the study were asked to assess the negative aspects of their closest personal relationships.

The researchers wanted to find out if toxic relationships affected the development of cardiac diseases. The results of the study indicated that the participants, who were in a close negative relationship, were at a higher risk of experiencing cardiac disease than those who had healthy relationships. Moreover, the study showed that toxic relationship can harm them physically, mentally, and emotionally.

Why it is better to be single than in a toxic relationship?

Here are a few reasons why it is better to be alone than in a negative relationship:

Single people are healthier

When people are alone they focus on their health. They learn a new sport, go to the gym, exercise, etc. On the other hand, people, who are in a relationship, think that there are many things they would do if they had more free time.

Single people learn who they are

People who are alone have time to find out what they like and what they want to be. Also, they have time to dedicate themselves to their hobbies and interests.

Single people spend more time with their families and friends

People, who are in a relationship, tend to spend less time with their families and friends. However, people, who are in a toxic relationship, are forced to break off the relationship with their loved ones.

On the other hand, people who are alone tend to spend more time with their loved ones.

Single people are self-sufficient

Single people are independent and self-sufficient. Moreover, they believe in their abilities and think that they can achieve everything they want. These people know how to rely on themselves.
