Calculate the Amount of Water You Need to Drink According to Your Weight

Water is so beneficial for your health, so it is good to be reminded to drink more of it. It does not only improve your health but your beauty and overall wellbeing too.

Drinking water gives you enough energy for everything you do throughout the day. It improves the natural color of your skin, your health condition and helps you lose some weight.

Although we know all of these things, we still neglect the use of water and we do not consume it in the amounts we should.

What will happen to your body if you drink the right amount of water?

Recent research shows that drinking 2 cups of water before every meal can help you lose 5 pounds annually.

If this becomes our regular practice it will reduce our appetite and stimulate our metabolism. Why is this happening? Because it happens so often to confuse the feeling of being thirsty with the feeling of being hungry. So, instead of drinking water to satisfy our thirst, we eat food because we think we are hungry.

Although we know that we should drink a lot of water, there are some things that are unclear. How do we know how much water our bodies need? What factors determine the amount of water we need to drink? And is this amount the same for every person, or different?

Here are some tips that will help you find out the right amount of water for you to improve your health and lose some weight:

  • Find out your weight

If you know how many pounds you are, you will know the amount of water you need to drink. So, the first thing you should do is to discover your weight.

  • Divide your weight in half

Now when you know your weight, divide it in half. For example, if you weigh 200 pounds, then 100 ounces is the amount of water you should drink daily.

  • Activity level

Check out the level of your activity. When you exercise you sweat and lose water, so you should drink a higher amount of water to compensate. Add 12 ounces of water to the recommended amount for every half an hour of a workout. That means that you should add 24 ounces of water to the daily amount of water that you drink for every hour of exercise.

To make a more accurate measurement, use the chart below. It will calculate the amount you need for you. But don’t forget that you need to add the amount of water for your workout.

It is not enough to only calculate how much water you need to drink, but also to keep track of the amount of water you are actually consuming every day.

In the beginning, drink 2 cups of water before meals. If you do this, it means you consume 48 ounces per day. Then, add two more cups, one when you get up in the mornings, and another before you go to bed at night. Add 32 ounces to the amount. The rest you already know how to add and divide by yourself.
